One of the top point guards in the country, Tremont Waters, has committed to Georgetown.
The 5’11 quick tricky ball-handler announced his decision today at a school press conference where he had three different hats on the table he was sitting at. Those three schools were Georgetown, Indiana and Kentucky. “After many discussions with my parents I will be attending Georgetown University,” Waters announced in front of the crowd.
Waters, who is the Hoyas first commit of 2017, also talked about how family-oriented the program was and how former player and NBA Hall-of-Famer, Allen Iverson, is someone he admired.
“Allen Iverson is a great example of what I can become or better. Also the feeling I had when I went to Georgetown. Everyone pretty much want me there, it’s just a family.”
A quick guard that has exceptional court vision, Waters should see immediate playing time for the Hoyas who went 15-18 last season. Georgetown has been in dying need of a talented point guard over the last few years, and head coach John Thompson III will look for Waters to be the main catalyst for the Big East program.
During the summer, Waters ran with the Expressions Elite program on the Nike EYBL circuit where he averaged 13 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assist throughout the league.
