Devontae Shuler is off the board after announcing his commitment to Ole Miss today at a press conference.
The Oak Hill (VA) guard chose the Rebels over Oklahoma State, South Carolina and Miami after visiting the Oxford, Mississippi school last month. Shuler told Rivals.com, “When I was on my visit to Ole Miss everything just felt right,” when asked what was the main factor in his decision.
A South Carolina native, many believed the Gamecocks had a great chance of obtaining the athletic guard. But it was also the relationship Shuler built with head coach Andy Kennedy since he began recruiting the star guard.
“I’ve built a great relationship with coach Kennedy and just being on campus and seeing how he runs practice really helped me make my decision.”
Shuler is Ole Miss fourth commit of the class of 2017 joining Ohio guard Parker Stewart, North Carolina wing Jatrious ‘J.J.’ Smith and Mississippi’s Tirus Smith.
During the summer, Shuler ran with CP3 in the Nike EYBL league where he averaged 12.3 points and shot 50 percent from the field, including 42.2 percent from three-point range.
