Recruiting News: Whyte to BU; McClary to Monmouth; Williams to Cincy

Walter Whyte To Boston University

St. Luke’s (CT) 2017 wing Walter Whyte committed to Boston University today after taking a trip to the school last week for an official visit. The 6’6 do-it-all wing chose the Terriers over Davidson, Northeastern, UPenn and a few others, becoming their second commit in the Class of 2017, joining 6’9 big man Sukhmail Mathon (The Holdnerness School, PA). Whyte was key contributor this summer for the PSA Cardinals (NY), where his team came up short in the Nike EYBL Peach Jam Championship.

New York Guard Chooses Cincinnati

Keith Williams (Bishop Loughlin, NY) is off the board after announcing his commitment to Cincinnati via his Twitter account. The 6’5 hard-nosed guard chose the Bearcats over Dayton and Oklahoma State after picking up an offer from the school back in July. A superb athlete that can score in multiple ways, Williams played for New Heights (NY) on the Under Armour circuit where he averaged 14 points and 4 rebounds per game.

Williams will join Houston guard Trevor Moore (Wheatley, TX) and Congo native Eliel Nsoseme in the 2017 class.

Monmouth Adds McClary

Monmouth picks up a commitment from The Patrick School (NJ) 2017 guard Marcus McClary. A lock-down defender who can hit the outside shot, told Adam Zagoria of, “It was more like a family atmosphere for me. And when I got down there I just felt all the love and I knew this was the spot for me.”

The 6’3 guard — who is Monmouth second commit in the class of 2017  — averaged 10 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal per game for the New Jersey Playaz in the Nike EYBL circuit.
