Penn State Freshman Trio Comes Up Big In Win Over Duquesne


Penn State got a big boost from freshman trio Tony Carr, Lamar Stevens  and Mike Waktins in the Nittany Lions 82-74 win over Duquesne University.

The freshmen trio combined for 59 of the Nittany Lions 82 points with Stevens leading the way with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist. Carr, the teams floor general finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assist while teh 6’9 Watkins chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Penn State, who is coming off an 87-81 loss to Albany, scored 12 first-half points off 13 turnovers, leading the Dukes 33-29 at half. Junior guard Shep Garner, the teams lone starter from last season, was held to just six points in the win.

The Nittany Lions will meet Grand Canyon University Tuesday at 7pm at the Bryce Jordan Center.
