Top 25 wing, Lonnie Walker, has announced his committement to Jim Larranaga’s Miami Hurricanes program this morning via his Twitter.
“First off I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me through this long journey, but it’s time for me to take this next step and move on and commit to University of Miami.”
The Reading High (PA) product chose the Hurricanes over Arizona, Syracuse, Villanova and Kentucky with many sources believing that Arizona was the favorite. Walker took an official visit to Miami back in late September where he told Rivals.com he liked the environment and “meshed” with the players and coaches really well.
Walker is the Hurricanes third commit of the class of 2017 joining DMV point guard Chris Lykes (No. 93, Scout.com) and 6’10 big man Den Gak out of Blair Academy. Walker who is an exceptional athlete who finishes at the rim, should see immediate playing time with senior wing Davon Reed set to graduate after the season.
Ballboy Hype will have more on this story in a few.
