Kentucky commit, Quade Green, caught fire in the second half during Neumann-Goretti (PA) 87-73 win over Imhotep (PA).
The 6’0 point guard was relentless during the stretch, scoring 24 of his 37 points while nailing 4 treys during the half. In a classic matchup against Rhode Island commit, Daron Russell, Green could often be seen hitting pull-up jumpers from all over the court while also getting into the lane to finish on tough lay-ups.
Villanova commit, Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree, was also a key factor in the win, finishing with 24 points and 12 rebounds on the night. The 6’9 energetic forward was relentless getting to the charity stripe on the night, hitting 12 of 12.
Imhotep was off to a good start early on, playing intensive defense on the Saints in staying within arms reach whenever they were trailing. Senior combo guard, David Beatty, caught fire early in the first quarter, scoring 9 of his 16 points.
During the second half, Russell began putting his team on back by hitting some key perimeter buckets while also connecting on some free-throws. The senior guard traded baskets with Neumann-Goretti’s Green all night and finished with 25 points.
But it was Green’s stretch in the fourth quarter where he hit consecutive pull-up jumpers, where Neumann-Goretti began to pull away.
Also contributing during the stretch, was senior forward Mike Milsip, a utility player that saw significant minutes last season off the bench. The 6’4 strong forward scored 6 quick points in the fourth quarter, giving the Saints a huge momentum booster.
