The Associated Press released their Preseason Top 25 Poll with the Duke Blue Devils being ranked No. 1 for the eighth time in history.
The Blue Devils received 58 of the 65 first-place votes from the national media panel thanks to most of their core players from last season returning except Brandon Ingram, the No. 2 pick in last June’s NBA Draft. A stellar recruiting class has also propelled the Blue Devils to the top of the list with freshman Harry Giles, Jayson Tatum, Marques Bolden and Frank Jackson all being Top 20 players in their class.
Following the Blue Devils is perennial powerhouses, Kentucky and Kansas, coming in at 2 and 3, respectively. The Wildcats, who also include a terrific recruiting class, received two first place votes in the poll.
