Mt. St. Joe’s (MD) Darryl Morsell has committed to Mark Turgeon’s Maryland Terrapins, opting to stay close to home.
At a school’s press conference yesterday, Morsell talked about how Turgeon made him a priority. “They made me feel like a priority,” said Morsell. “They didn’t put me second to anyone. That was a comforting feeling. Coach Turgeon just made a strong pitch for me. He wanted me to come because I’m the local kid, regardless of ranking, he made it known that he wanted me and that’s something that I liked.”
The Baltimore native chose the Terps over Notre Dame and Dayton in which he took an official visit to both Maryland and Notre Dame and cancelled his trip to Dayton at the last minute, after realizing he wanted to focus on Maryland and Notre Dame.
Morsell is the Terps second commit of the class of 2017, joining IMG Academy big man Bruno Fernandez. Maryland is also in the hunt for Class of 2017 No. 1 point guard Trevon Duval, who is also playing at IMG Academy this season.
